A New Year’s Resolution to Pause

by Lee on December 31, 2006

I was recently watching Fox News Channel when a rather compelling commercial using the video game of Pong came on. Pong was the very first video game that I ever owned and even then, I only got one well after their popularity had long faded.

Anyway, the commercial was compelling enough for me to go check the site–and I must say I was impressed with its design and its goals. And the metaphor of the pong paddles not just moving up and down, but actually moving closer together to become the internationally recognized symbol for “pause,” suggests that you are in control and can pause for a good decision whenever you like is powerful.

There are no pithy sayings or quotes there and no catchphrases to glean, just sound advice, strategies, and factual resources that everyone (not just young people) can use to make smarter decisions. Even so, if you have young people in your life, whether they’re kids, grandkids, or just friends, this site is worth a referral and I offer it here for your resources.
