Stay Informed; Use New Media Instead

by Lee on April 17, 2009

“If you don’t read the newspaper you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.”
— Mark Twain

Which explains why the only real news you can count on is in the New Media, where events and public discourse expose issues to peer review and challenge. For so long, we trusted the press to be champions of truth and guardians against an oppressive government. But now it turns out that their party affiliation matters a lot more because it affects their world view so much, and their world view skews the news.

It’s so hard to think for yourself these days because as a society, we’ve been lulled into a sense of security and trust for specific news organizations, reporters, and even news anchors. And that very fact is what is going to make our collective awakening so painful.
